In order to improve standardization, control level of railway track inspection, and monitor inspectors scientifically and accurately, this paper brings forward a supervisor mode of patrol inspection based radio frequency identification (RFID) and information management technologies.RFID in Railway Operations. The purpose of the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology research project is to prepare a comprehensive report covering RFID technology and current use in the rail industry.RFID-tagged components, such as wheel sets and bogies, can be read and tracked as your equipment moves in and out of maintenance yards during their entire lifespan. The data from those components are automatically stored in your database using middleware software and available to you when needed. The research presented in this paper provides an insight into the use of a modern wireless identification system—RFID technology—for accurately positioning any railway vehicle that is collecting data on the track.
In this paper, two condition monitoring techniques for track assets are discussed, and an RFID subsystem, along with data communication and database, for accurate relative positioning of trains is described.RFID is a contactless wireless technology that allows the remote identification of objects automatically by using radio waves instead of light viz. Bar-Code System. The RFID technology has numerous and extensive applications. Some of the important applications are in process control during production, supply chain management, and object tracking management.
